Cowl is one size but easily adjustable. Sample is approx. 30cm (12”) wide and 130cm (51”) in circumference.

The striking geometric design of this amazing cowl can be either stunningly vibrant or subtly shifting depending on your colour choice. Surprisingly easy to knit, it is even suitable for confident beginners.

Yarn and Materials –
 Approx. 200g total of Cloud Forest Yarns 4 ply (fingering) in two colours, or similar.
Sample uses Cloud Forest Yarns Extra Fine Merino in Ombre ball ‘Blazing Sunset’ and semi-solid ‘Pacific’.
 4.5mm (US 7) needles, straight or circular.
 Yarn needle to sew in ends.

Abbreviations –
St/Sts – Stitch / Stitches.
RS / WS – right side / wrong side.
K1 / P1 – Knit one stitch / Purl one stitch.
C1/C2 – Colour 1 /Colour2.
S2KP – slip two stitches together knitwise, knit one, then pass the two slipped stitches over the knit stitch and off the needle reducing 3 sts to 1.
Kfb – Knit into the front and then the back of a stitch to make an extra stitch.

Pattern notes –

  • To increase/decrease the width of the cowl increase/decrease number of cast on stitches in increments of 29.
  • To achieve the ombre effect of the sample, use a solid colour as C1 and an ombre colour as C2.
  • You can also knit this as a scarf or wrap. Simply cast on and off as usual and don’t join the ends!
