From the description: My children always complain long-sleeve woollens are too hot for them to wear. No matter what I try, they will not wear those jumpers. Hence this cotton vest. No wool and no sleeves. So there, kids. Wear it now? Please?

Yarn: Main colour: Vanilla, 1 (2) balls. Contrast colours: dark green, forest, sage, natural, cafe and chocolate, 1 ball each.

Needles and notions:

• size 4.5mm needles / US7 60cm circular and 40cm circular;
• one extra 4.5mm / US7 needle for three-needle cast off;
• stitch holders;
• tapestry needle (sharp tip) and wool needle (blunt tip)
• five 14mm / 0.5” buttons
• yarn bobbins (optional)
• short length of brightly coloured yarn about 20cm
• sewing thread if necessary

Finished measurements:

• chest: 66 (73)cm / 26 (28.5)“
• length: 33 (43)cm / 13 (17)“

Notes: This vest is worked in one piece to the underarm and then divided into 2 fronts and a back; front bands are worked together with the garment with the buttonholes every 20 (24) rows. Lengths of yarns approx 1-2m in length may be easier to work with than yarn bobbins, especially in the off-centre circle (chart D). Hot washing (60degC) your tension swatch and completed garment is required as the fabric shrinks about 8% in length after washing. Fabric may be tumbled partially dry.
