This reversible, cabled cowl is destined to become a wardrobe staple. After all, who doesn’t want a timeless accessory that’s light enough to wear almost year-round (at least in the Pacific Northwest)? Made with lace-weight yarn, the little waves, or ondelettes, create a cozy fabric you’ll want to wrap around your neck and never take off. Just be warned, your friends will want one, too!

Yarn - 400 yards (one loop version) or 820 yards (two loop version) of lace weight yarn. Sample shown in one skein of Madelinetosh Prairie (100% superwash merino wool; 840 yards per skein), colorway Composition Book Grey.

Gauge - 28 sts = 4” in stockinette stitch. Measured after blocking.

Needles - US #3/3.25mm needle of your choice, or size to get gauge, and an additional US#3/3.25mm needle to pick up provisionally cast on edge.

Notions - Crochet hook, cable needle, tapestry needle.

Skill level - Intermediate (provisional cast on, cables, grafting in ribbed pattern).

Size/Finished measurements - Two loop version: 50” circumference. One loop version: 20” circumference. Measured after blocking.
