Please note Some people run short of yarn if their gauge is off or they aren’t using the specified yarn, so there are directions in the pattern if you find yourself in this situation. You may either omit the final rib repeat or the final mesh border repeat. This seems to solve the problem.

I often long for a “one and done” project that is repetitive and foolproof, where the yarn does all the work for me. Like many of my patterns, this is best used with a variegated yarn, preferably a skein that you love so much you don’t know whether to knit or frame it. With periodic garter ridges, ribbing that widens after dropping stitches, and an eyelet border, this will maximize the beauty of your special skein of yarn.

Skill Level
If you have made a shawl with any type of increases then you are ready for One & Done.

Materials
One skein of variegated sock yarn that you absolutely love.

Final Measurements
13” deep by 87” around bottom border. Prior to blocking, your shawl will form a peak at the top and be slightly bunched up due to the ribbing. This all magically disappears as you drop the stitches and the shawl expands, like a caterpillar into a butterfly.

Please note: If you are using Caroline, or another merino/cashmere/nylon yarn, you will have to actively make the stitches drop at the end as the longer cashmere fibers sometimes lightly adhere to each other. This takes some extra time where you will be forced to watch a couple of “Game of Thrones” reruns.
