One Big Square
My version of the One Big Granny baby blanket. Or lap blanket. Or throw. It’s infinitely expandable.
This is the basic granny square, increased in size until one is almost out of yarn or patience, or the square has reached the right size.
This version calls for two 7-ounce skeins of a solid color and two 5-ounce skeins of a variegated color to make a square that is roughly 3 feet on a side, with the colors varied according to the crocheter’s whim. But of course it can be made from anything in any size. It is a good pattern for using up scraps, as are all granny squares.
The edging is in single crochet followed by reverse single crochet (aka crab stitch).
The pattern uses US crochet terminology.
The gauge is unimportant. Use a crochet hook size that works for the yarn you choose.
