Both feminine and utilitarian, this will be a go-to garment in your wardrobe for years to come. It is a quick knit in Louet Gems Merino Worsted Weight. The garment is edged in a rolled Stockinette Stitch combined with a broken rib. The main body is worked in Stockinette Stitch, with pretty Leaf Lace trim edging the cardigan fronts. The Leaf Lace also appears in mirrored panels at the cuffs. The cardigan has slight empire shaping to create an elegant line. The sleeves fall straight from the elbow, and are shaped from the elbow to the underarm. The collar is picked up and knit after garment assembly, worked in the same broken rib as the hem, with a few short rows around the neckline for some graceful shaping, and trimmed with a rolled Stockinette Stitch edging. The cardigan is attractive whether buttoned up or left open: the buttonholes are worked under the rolled edging so that they are not obtrusive when the cardigan is worn open.
