What do you do when you want to keep your neck warm with something snug and fitted just to the “v” of your coat, but you don’t want to mess up your hair with something that has to go over your head? The Opel is exactly that.

A fast knit in a single skein of DK or fingering weight held doubled, the Opel has a simple v shaping formed with short rows, gathers at the neck to keep it snug, and a wingspan that is just large enough to tuck in at the ends. The pattern also includes an optional button closure to keep the ends tidy - or show off a fun button.

And talk about stash busting options! This project shows off gradients, speckles, and variegated yarns with equal ease. Work it in a warm wool as a sturdy shield from winter cold, or in a silk, mohair, or yak blend for elegant flair for a night out.

In St st, 22 sts and 34 rows = 4”/10cm gives a scarf with 9” center length and 30.5” from center to end (sample in Dramaturg).
In St st, 18 sts and 30 rows = 4”/10cm gives a scarf with 10” center length and 32.25” center to end (sample in Sublime).
