Open Bar
Sitting under a palm tree, sun shining down warming me up and right next to the pool overlooking the ocean holding a frozen drink with a little umbrella in my hand, that’s what I am dreaming I am doing. 🌞 🌴 🍹 🌊 👙
Open Bar is worked sideways, increasing along one edge to create an asymmetrical triangle, and features a nicely curved inside neckline edge. The shawl is made up of three easy to memorize texture stitch patterns: Stamen Stitch, Chevrons, and a fun Ripples Stitch pattern. Each stitch pattern will produce its own fabric and drape then come together to stretch open during blocking. It’s the perfect project for a little spring break and will be the perfect thing to wear on the next beach (bar) trip!
Materials
🍹 Four Purls has the most amazing kits right here! These beautiful yarn combinations also include a “Ginger Mojito” Little Bee 🐝 Lotion Bar by Love + Leche in each “Open Bar” kit! These kits will also include a fun sticker souvenir designed for Four Purls by Cozy Cactus Studios! We will be sticking ours to our favorite drink koozies!
Emma’s Yarn Super Silky (80% Superwash Merino/20% silk, 400yards/100grams)
Color One (C1): Ice Ice Baby 380 yards (blue)
Color Two (C2): Just Add Salt 320 yards (green)
Color Three (C3): On the Rocks 330 yards (multi speckled)
Needles: US 4/3.5mm & 6/4.0mm needle, 24” or 32” circular needles and size 7/4.5 for bind off
Loose knitters will need to adjust down in needle sizes
Notions: Stitch Markers (optional), T-pins and blocking wires for blocking
Gauge: 24 sts = 4 inches in Stamen and Ripple Stitch, 22sts = 4 inches in Chevrons after aggressive blocking. Although gauge is not crucial for this project, it will affect the finished size and yarn requirements. A looser gauge will result in the use of more yarn.
Finished Size: 43” x 58” x 72” after aggressive blocking.
Finished dimensions will vary due to blocking and fiber content; the silk in the sample resulted in a very drapey shawl.
The pattern includes full written instructions, is also fully charted, and includes stitch counts.
Stitches Used: knit, purl, knit front and back, make one, yarn over, slip with yarn in front, slip with yarn in back, k2tog, p2tog making this an easy peasy, fun knit!
When picking your colors, think of a favorite mocktail or cocktail you would want your Open Bar filled with!
