Opus 1300
Description from pattern
Classic, 1950s-60s-style, hip-length, long-sleeved, raglan cardigan with crew neck. Knitted flat from the top down, with a textured, beaded diamond pattern around bottom half of body and ends of sleeves. Cuff and hem ribbing with contrast edge, and traditional buttoned front.
This is a fully-written, original pattern inspired by hand-knitted cardigans remembered from the 50s and 60s, i.e. not an updated vintage pattern. The clear glass beads and clear plastic buttons are part of that vintage look.
Required
- 5-8 x 100g balls of recommended yarn; scraps of contrast DK for edging.
- 80cm circular needle in 4mm and 3.25 sizes; pair of straight needles in 4mm size.
- Row counter, 2 elastic bands or end-stoppers for circular needle, 2 large stitch-holders or contrast yarn to hold sts, 9 clear plastic buttons approx 20mm diameter, 500 Matsuno clear glass rocailles or seed beads size 6/0, steel crochet hook size 0.75mm or 0.9mm.
Charts
There is a chart for the stitch pattern, and a chart for the crew neck shaping.
Note
The pdf file also contains instructions for a larger size (38in bust) but that size has not been knit-tested. The 36in bust size has been knit-tested by the designer.
