This is a cowl or snood in garter stitch, made in the round using faux fur novelty yarn. It is designed in two sizes, the smaller of which can be made with one ball of the recommended yarn.
Requirements
- Yarn: For medium size, one 100g (90m/98yd) ball of James C. Brett Faux Fur. For larger size, 125g (112m/123 yd), or 1.25 balls of the yarn.
- Needles: Circular needle: length 16in/40cm. Metric size 8mm, US size 11, UK/Canada size 0.
- Stitch marker or loop of contrast yarn.
- Row counter or other method of counting rows.
Measurement
The finished piece is very stretchy, and can only be measured by suspending it from top or side and getting two very different sets of measurements.
- The following measurement is of the piece suspended from the side, because that imitates the behaviour of the fabric when lying around the neck: approx height 6in/15cm; approx circumference 32in/80cm.
- If suspended from the top, or hanging from the needles at the last row, dimensions are: approx height 8in/20cm, approx circumference 22in/56cm.
- The piece will stretch beyond the above two measurements; it can also look smaller than the above two measurements when not suspended.
