Osborne Bay
Named for a favourite local beach, the comfortable, customizable, #sizeinclusive Osborne Bay sweater is just the thing for getting out and about on a chilly day. Osborne Bay features an unusual cuff-to-centre construction with subtle A-line shaping, a split hem, and cables that flow up the sleeve into the mock turtle neck. The pattern includes instructions for adjusting the front neck depth, adjusting the length, and adding to the front width while keeping the fit at the neck and shoulders. It also contains an illustrated tutorial for working the German short rows for the A-line shaping and body circumference adjustments.
To make Osborne Bay, you will need to know how to knit, purl, pick up stitches, and seam. Some experience with cables will be helpful, but not necessary.

About the Yarn
About the yarn: Kingston is a woolen-spun, 3-ply, DK weight yarn that softens with washing, creating a beautiful, cohesive fabric that wears well. The 100% Targhee wool that makes up this yarn gives it bounce and durability, while the 3-ply structure makes for a round yarn with good stitch definition that plays very nicely with cables. The woolen style of spinning traps lots of air, making a yarn that works well at a wide range of gauges with generous yardage for the weight, that makes a fabric that is light and warm. The wool for Kingston is gently processed before carding, preserving its woolly character.
This design could work in a variety of DK to worsted weight yarns, though the sideways construction means that heavier, worsted-spun yarns could pull your sweater out of shape, especially if the yarn is slick or doesn’t have much memory. For this reason, I’d recommend avoiding most superwash wools (some of the newer machine-washable wools are not as slick and might work), yarns with a high silk content, and most 100% linen or cotton yarns. If you’re substituting yarn, be sure to do a large swatch (at least 7 in/18 cm long and wide), and hang it sideways after blocking to see whether you like how it drapes. You will need approximately 1332 (1457, 1565, 1689) (1819, 1933, 2088) (2244, 2391, 2544) yds/ 1218 (1332, 1431, 1544) (1663, 1768, 1909) (2052, 2186, 2326) m.
