You can use any weight yarn to work the blanket, it has been tested with fingering (super-fine); sport (fine); and DK (light) weight yarns. Measurements and amount of yarn required for those yarn weights are listed below, and although the blanket has not been tested with worsted (medium) weight yarn you can also use that weight yarn if you wish.

Using fingering (super-fine) weight yarn, when finished, the blanket will measure approximately 89cm (36”) wide (North to South) and 125 cm (50”) in length (East to West), without an optional border, and dependent on your own tension gauge. You will need a total of approximately 800 grams (30 ounces) of yarn (2560 metres or 2784 yards).

Using sport (fine) weight yarn, when finished, the blanket will measure approximately 113cm (45”) wide (North to South) and 150 cm (60”) in length (East to West), without an optional border, and dependent on your own tension gauge. You will need a total of approximately 889 grams (33 ounces) of yarn (1890 metres or 2070 yards).

Using DK (light) weight yarn, when finished, the blanket will measure approximately 128cm (51”) wide (North to South) and 166 cm (66”) in length (East to West), without an optional border, and dependent on your own tension gauge, you will need a total of approximately 1443 grams (52 ounces) of yarn (3896.1 metres or 4260.9 yards).
