Ouzo is an easy summer cardigan to throw on when there’s a little chill in the air. It features short sleeves, a loose fit, and a long flattering length. It’s something I was seeing in catalogs and just needed to own. This effortless shape looks good over everything! I added a few touches - gorgeous lace across the sleeves and upper back, a little reverse stockinette for contrast once the lace ends, pockets that echo the motif at shoulders, and a gradual V on the fronts. This shaping means that the bottom of the sweater has extra ease, and fronts overlap at hem if laid flat. I find this a cozy touch - it’s not so much that it’s overwhelming when sweater is worn, but it’s enough to allow you you a way to “wrap yourself” into the sweater when you want.

Knit in 3 pieces from the bottom up and seamed along sides and shoulders, this is a quick knit with a lot of stockinette and only a bit of easy-to-follow lace. Sleeves are created by casting on stitches at either side of the body. They are then shaped with short rows along the upper shoulder, adding to the slouchy feel of the piece.

The lace runs across the back from sleeve cuff to sleeve cuff, and for a little interest above, the back shoulder is worked in reverse stockinette once the lace is complete. Pockets match the upper back and are seamed on last.

For fit as shown, I suggest choosing the size that allows you 4-6”/ 10-16.5cm of positive ease based on bust.

Lace is both charted and written. Note that this yarn is listed as a DK, but is lofty enough that I worked it at a worsted gauge. If substituting yarn, choose a worsted weight fiber.
