Over and Out Woven Wrap
Do you love crochet? Do you love weaving? Then this is the project for you!
I designed this wrap as an homage to the beloved craft of weaving. The pattern first featured in Crochet Now magazine issue 106. I have updated the pattern to include step by step photos and a US version. The pattern is written in English.
The base of the wrap is crocheted first with DK yarn in main colour, before weaving the chunky roving colours through the holes created by the chain spaces to create the vertical stripes. A fringe is created along the edge of the wrap with the ends of the roving stripes.
I find the process of weaving very therapeutic and calming and hope you will too.
YOU WILL NEED - 500g (1120m) DK yarn for the base, then 400g (560m) of chunky roving yarn.
I used; West Yorkshire Spinners Elements DK with West Yorkshire Spinners Retreat Roving Chunky.
4mm Crochet hook
Yarn needle (with a big enough eye for the roving)
Scissors
Tape measure
10 cm: 7 rows x 20 stitches measured across base stitch pattern.
Wrap measures 150cm wide x 50cm deep (including fringe).
