When I used this pattern, I kept my tension low, so the stitches were looser and the hat wasn’t stiff. (I’m used to making amigurumi, which require high tension.)

Feel free to improvise! I’ve made several of these hats already for friends. Each time it’s a new animal!

For the panda seen here, just use ears in the linked pattern.
