The PANDORA’S BOX (WRAP) is the design created for the gkgreen designs 2019 Knit-Along (KAL): Return to Gallifrey -- All the Stars That Never Were. Six intriguing stitch patterns and five creatively dyed yarns combine into one versatile wrap/stole/scarf design that embodies the very definition of enigmatic ambiguity presented by the classical Greek concept of hope (Elpsis), while also tangentially referencing its namesake C-type main-belt asteroid (which orbits our sun).

This wrap is constructed seamlessly in an oversized rectangular shape (which can be worn in many different ways), with fully reversible columnar sections (so that there is no actual “wrong” side), for body-conscious proportional design (to flatter all body types and permit the wearer to emphasize different areas of the figure). The design is somewhat forgiving of any knitter gauge variation, should it occur, and blocking -- while strongly recommended -- is not essential if finished appearance is acceptable to the individual knitter.

Actual pattern directions for knitting the PANDORA’S BOX WRAP are presented in fully detailed (all stitches explicitly given) row-by-row table format, including color-coded cell backgrounds. Explanatory material -- technical tips, useful working methods, etc. -- and finishing information are also provided in the pattern.

The designer-led KAL began on 01 August 2019 and concludes 12 September 2019. Knitters are welcome -- and warmly encouraged --- to join the KAL at any point during its approximately six-week duration.

There is an active dedicated Ravelry.com group (exclusively for KAL participants, although some read-only pages are public -- Go take a look!) that supports information exchange for the PANDORA’S BOX (WRAP) knit-along.
