The pattern is available in English and German.

There are two files, one with the written pattern (no charts) and one with charts (no written row by row pattern) so you can work according to the one you like the best. German file is charts only!

Difficulty: Easy to medium. Patterned both RS and WS rows, but WS rows are only knit and purl sts. This is the charts only version. A written pattern is available (the other download). Chinese waitress cast on is used, but you can substitute with long tail or cable cast on if you don’t like the crochet cast on.

Yarn: As shown here worked in a 100% alpaca 2-ply, 10/2, 546 yards (500 m) per 100 g. Pattern is adaptable to any yardage. As shown used 190 g yarn or 1038 yards (950 m). If substituting yarn, go for something with good stitch definition to show the cables well. Test knitters advice to use solid colours or long gradients.

Gauge: As shown one repeat of chart C is 4 inches (10 cm) tall, 3 ¼ inches (8 cm) wide. Gauge is not essential to fit, but to get the desired width you might want to work a swatch to determine if you need to add extra repeats.

Construction: The shawl is worked in one piece from one end to the other. It can be made as wide and as long as you wish.

Size: Rectangle. As shown 19.5 inches (50 cm) wide and 67 inches (170 cm) long. Size is fully adjustable, add length and width as you please.

Needles and hooks: US 4 (3.5 mm) circular or straight needles or the size you need to get a fabric you like with the yarn of your choice. Crochet hook same size as your knitting needles for cast on and bind off, unless you would rather use a knitted cast on and bind off. Cable needle.

Other notions: Stitch markers. Darning needle.

Maschenprobe: So wie abgebildet ist eine Ausführung von Chart C 10 cm hoch und 8 cm breit. Die Maschenprobe muss nicht übereinstimmen, aber um die gewünschte Breite zu erreichen, die du gerne haben möchtest, könnte es sinnvoll sein, eine Probe zu arbeiten, um zu prüfen, ob du eventuell zusätzliche Mustersätze hinzufügen musst.

Konstruktion: Der Schal wird in einem Stück von einem zum anderen Ende gearbeitet. Er kann so breit und lang gemacht werden, wie du es möchtest.

Größe: Rechteckig. Wie abgebildet 50 cm breit und 170 cm lang. Die Größe ist komplett veränderbar, füge Breite und Länge nach Wunsch hinzu.

Strick- und Häkelnadeln: Rundnadel oder gerade Nadeln 3.5 mm oder die Nadelstärke, die du für die gewünschte Textur mit deinem Garn benötigst. Häkelnadel in derselben Stärke für den Anschlag und das Abketten, ausser du möchtest lieber einen gestrickten Anschlag und Abketten arbeiten. Zopfnadel.

Andere Hilfsmittel: Maschenmarkierer. Nähnadel.
