PARAMELLOWGRAM Wrap
The Paramellowgram Wrap is a big rectangular wrap knit in soothing garter stitch on the bias. Adding increases and decreases at the ends of rows slants your knitting into an interesting parallelogram shape, creating diagonal lines that drape beautifully. And because it’s knit entirely in squishy garter stitch, the Paramellowgram Wrap makes for super chill, mindless knitting.
The Paramellowgram Wrap is knit in panels. First you will cast on stitches at one of the short sides and knit the shawl body, binding off on the other short side. Then you’ll add the border by picking up stitches along the long edges of the shawl, knitting a few more rows, and binding off again. After that, you’ll return to the short edges where you’ll pick up more stitches, knit, add optional buttons and buttonholes, and bind off. Last, you’ll add a contrast I-cord edge to give your wrap a clean finish.
This pattern is awesome for using up those mini skeins and scrap yarn balls you never know what to do with! Mix and match solids, speckles, variegated, self-striping, semi-solids, tonals, and more. Make color blocks as I’ve done in the sample, or play with bold, multi-row stripes or alternating yarns every other row to fade the colors together. You could also knit the body panel in one color for an understated look. Anything goes!
