Parliamentary Procession
I designed this hat to teach stranded knitting in store. It uses one solid color and one self striping. The gauge is small for the weight because of the stranded style -- it helps hide the floats.
If you use the same yarn as recommended, you can get at least three hats out of the Sunshine Coast. And each hat requires one skein of the Cosma. I did not make a tall/large hat so I am not 100% if you will need a second skein for that size, but I would have one on hand just in case -- especially if you do not gauge!
The hat has both small. medium, and large sizes as well as two heights. The shorter hat is designed to sit right above the ears -- my husband and father seem to really like this size.
We had a few people make the hat for kids - some went to fingering weight and size 2/3 needles and some just repeated the chart 4x rather than 5.
You MUST BE ABLE TO FOLLOW A CHART to complete this pattern. If you have never followed a chart, I do give you instructions on how to read it and a color work chart in the round is the easiest to learn! I also include information on how to catch yarn floats in color work.
I found that the buttons really made the hat, but a few people chose not to add them for kids (safety reasons) and for guys and it still looked really good.
As always, feel free to contact me with questions.
