Passi ~ Italian for “steps”

The Passi Scarf is an easygoing accessory designed to accompany you during your winter walks. When made using a blown yarn, it provides warmth while remaining lightweight enough to wear comfortably around the neck.

Construction
The Passi Scarf features decorative picot edges on the bottom and top edges and is mostly worked in the round for an enjoyable knitting experience. The bottom edge of this scarf is worked flat after provisionally casting on stitches that will later be placed on the needles to work the scarf in the round. Once the desired length is reached, the top edge is finished by working a few rows flat before grafting the front and back stitches together for a sleek, seamless finish

Finished Measurements
This pattern comes in one size and will yield the following finished measurements:
Width: 21 cm / 8.5”.
Length: 200 cm / 78.75”, adjustable.

Gauge
18 stitches x 26 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm / 4” x 4” on 4.5 mm / US 7 needles in Stockinette Stitch in the round after blocking.

Yarn
The sample is worked in Majo Garn Puno Fine colorway 124 cacao (39% baby alpaca, 7% fine Merino, 54% cotton; 125 m / 137 yds – 50 g).

You will need 6 balls of Majo Garn Puno Fine or approx. 725 m / 795 yds of a similar worsted weight blown yarn.

Needles
• 4.5 mm / US 7 circular needles of at least 80 cm / 32” to work the scarf using the magic loop technique, or needle size needed to reach gauge.
Note: You may wish to use shorter circular needles to work the scarf after the bottom edge and before the top edge, but long circular needles are needed to begin and finish the scarf.

Notions
• A crochet hook of 4.5 mm / US 7 for the provisional cast on.
Note: The size of the crochet hook is not crucial as long as it is somewhat close in size to the knitting needles used to work the scarf.
• Some DK or worsted weight yarn in a contrasting color for the provisional cast on.
• 1 removable stitch marker
• Optional: 2 stitch markers (including a distinct beginning of round stitch marker). You can optionally use these markers if you wish to work the middle part of the scarf in the round on shorter circular needles.
• Tapestry needle
• Measuring tape

Techniques
• Provisional cast on using a crochet hook
• Simple lace for the picot edge
• Grafting using the Kitchener stitch
