Pastel Fair Isle Gloves
This is my second Fair Isle glove pattern which uses the traditional method of ‘knitting in the round’ with double pointed needles, using two colours on Fair Isle pattern rows.
The pattern colours are feminine but you can knit the gloves using any colour scheme you choose. The fingers and thumbs are sized individually by the knitter - so as if you have long fingers like I do, you will have gloves which fit your hand nicely, I hope!
I use just over one 25g ball of the main colour in the pattern of Shetland wool from Jamieson & Smith, Lerwick, Shetland and one ball of each contrast colour will be more than enough for the contrasting colours (if you have a stash of Shetland wool it would be an opportunity to use some of it in these gloves). You can easily substitute the wool for Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift pure Shetland wool.
Double pointed needles (20cm long) in sizes 2.5mm (US size 1.5) and 2.75 mm (US size 2).
I use a tapestry needle to weave in ends, a little waste yarn in a bright, contrasting colour and/or a stitch marker. You can also use a stitch holder.
