NOTE ABOUT THE NORWEGIAN VERSION

Pattentvaffel is a design from the Strikkekraft knitwear collection.
In 2024, Anne Björke asked 10 designers to revisit traditional Norwegian patterns by Norlender, to honour the local machine knitting heritage with a handknit tribute.
I was drawn to a waffle-like stranded colourwork design that I instantly wanted to revamp with two-colour brioche colourwork, while my friend Aleks Byrd had Estonian knitting plans with the same sample as a starting point.
The body of the sweater is worked from the bottom up, first in the round up to underarm level, then flat up to the shoulder joint.
Then stitches are picked up around armholes. and worked in the round down to cuff.
All edges are finished with a contrasting i-cord.
Colourwork yarn ends are encased in a contrasting stripe down the back and along the sleeves, so that the usually untidy beginning of round where colour changes happen becomes a neat feature in the design.
