The pattern has been tested by several Ravelers, and works up in less than 3 hours for most crocheters.

If you choose to substitute yarns, any worsted will work in place of the black, but the blue in this design is a heavier weight than most worsteds, so an Aran or light bulky would work best to maintain the shape of the hat.
