While knitting this shawl, remember the moments in your life when you felt at peace. If you “knit them into” the fabric of the shawl, the shawl can later serve as a reminder to notice such peaceful moments in your everyday life, and to create them for yourself.

This crescent shaped shawl is worked top down using yarn in three colours. It features a squishy two-colour brioche body, and a fast to work diamond lace edging. According to the instructions provided, you can make a medium sized shawl from lace weight yarn, or a large shawl from fingering weight. However, it is very easy to make the shawl larger or smaller using the notes on customisation.

The pattern is fully charted and includes line-by-line written instructions. Previous experience with knitting brioche is useful. Video tutorials are available for the I-cord cast on and working aligned picots.

I asked test knitters what they would like to tell about the pattern and the finished shawl to other knitters and here are some of their answers:

Jurga: It’s a wonderful possibility to try two-colour brioche. The pattern is very well-written, easily customizable and the result is very rewarding.

Hofi: I love it. I will knit another one.

echeverialaui: The pattern is easy to follow, well written and produces a stunning result. If you are up for an instant reward, better work custom size with heavier yarn and bear in mind, that 2-colour brioche looks at its best if you use highly contrasting colours. Also the generous use of life-lines will be helpful, unless you are capable of doing repairs in brioche!

KBHallman: If you are comfortable with two-color brioche and can correct a mistake if a brioche stitch does a runner, then this pattern is like eating potato chips! The brioche is so cuddly. And using the icord to pick up the initial stitches is much easier than a two-color cast on. I really love that part. And the icord edge is so lovely.
