The pattern is created for 2 options, depending on your stash & preferences:
Option 1
Main color, including the feather print (MC). Best to choose a gradient, heavily variegated, or striped yarn - 100g/3.5 oz 400m/440yds
Contrast color (CC). Best to choose a (semi) solid yarn, with high contrast to MC (to ensure the print really pops) - 100g/3.5 oz 400m/440yds
Option 2
Main color -150g/5.3 oz 600m/660yds
Contrast color - 50g/1.7oz 200m/220yds

The sample was knit following Option 1 instructions in yarns:

• MC - Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball Crazy (420m/460yds per 100g/3.5oz, 1 ball), colorway 2250 Jacke Wie Hose
• CC - Filcolana Arwetta Classic (210m/230 yds per 50g/1.7oz, 2 balls), colorway 352 Red Squirrel

NEEDLES 3mm US2.5 circulars (or size to get gauge) on 60-80cm 24-32” cable.

GAUGE
The gauge is 26 stitches by 25 garter ridges (50 rows) measured in GARTER STITCH per 1010cm/44” square after wet blocking.

Construction - Peacock Feather is a triangular asymmetric shawl, starting from the top right corner. It is shaped with a centered double decrease along the ‘spine’ and first symmetric increases at both ends of the row until you reach the maximum depth, and after that decreases at the left edge and increases at the right edge.

The finished and blocked shawl is 180cm/70” wide by 80cm/32” deep.

TECHNIQUES USED

• Reading written instructions (+charted - optional)
• Knitting and purling through the front loop, through the back loop and through both loops
• Garter stitch (knit on both sides)
• Centered double decrease
• Short-rows (German method)
