Peacock Stole
I wanted to design a shawl that incorporated traditional lace pat¬terns, reminiscent of peacock feathers, into a simple rectangular shawl. This is a good first lace piece for a confident knitter, but still has enough going on to maintain your interest if you’ve more experience.
The shawl is very easy to resize; since all the repeats across the different stitch patterns are the same width, simply work more (or fewer) panels. Of course length is also easily changed by working more or fewer repeats of each stitch pattern.
Worked in luxurious Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk, the Peacock Shawl would make a treasured gift – if you can bear to remove it from your own shoulders!
Notions: Yarn needle, waste yarn
Required skills: Simple lace, grafting, reading charts
Thank you to Alexandra Virgiel for tech editing.
ERRATA to first printing of book: Chart C, Row 2, stitch 13 should be a k2tog, not just a knit stitch.
Row & column numbers are misprinted in the book. Ignore them; the chart (other than the stitch noted above) correctly shows the repeats.
