Certain crochet stitches beg to be worked in hand-dyed yarns, and Spike Stitch is certainly one of those. While you could work this stitch in a single hand-dyed yarn, I like gather a group of somewhat related colors, contrasting in both hue and color weight and playing lighter colors against heavier ones.

Yarn requirements:
A) and B) 350 (375, 450, 500, 550) yards each
C) and D) 225 (250, 300, 325, 350) yards each
E), F) and H) 110 (125, 150, 160, 175) yards each
G) 450 (500, 575, 625, 675) yards each

Colors: A) Twilight, B) Coral Reef, C) Autumn, D) Freesia, E) Thunderclap, F) Highlands, G) Sapphire and H) Deep Sea.
