Pearl Lattice Hat
Just in time for the cold snap! This hat will keep you toasty. It’s an easily memorized 4 row pattern that includes cabling without a cable needle and can be completed in about 2 evenings. Cast on today (Thursday) and you’ll be wearing it by Saturday!
The pattern is written for 3 sizes:
Small fits head circumference of 16-18”/41-46 cm and is 8”/20 cm long,
Medium fits head circumference of 18-20”/46-51 cm and is 8”/20 cm long, and
Large first head circmference of 20-22”/51-56 cm and is 8”/20 cm long.
The model is a size Small made with Madelinetosh Tosh DK. Even though this yarn is labeled DK it work up more like worsted.
Gauge: 24 sts/26 r = 4”/10 cm in Pearl Lattice stitch on size US8 (5.0 mm) needles. Each pattern repeat measures 2”/5 cm across
This hat begins with a K2P2 rib with occassional Right Twist Accents.
The body is worked using a 12 stitch, 4 row repeat pattern also using Right Twists and Left Twists to create a lattice design. These twists can easily be worked without using a cable needle so this hat works up quickly. A link is provided in the pattern to demonstrate this technique. Sticky yarn is recommended if you are new to this technique.
The design has just the right amount of slouch and would look great with a pom-pom attached. The gender neutral cable pattern works well for anyone on your knitworthy list!
Instructions are both written and charted so you can use the method you prefer.
