Mitts are knit in the round on double pointed needles using loop stitches for the cuff stitch pattern. The mitt hand is constructed in stockinette stitch with thumb gusset increases beginning at the base of the thumb. Thumbs are constructed by separating stitches from the hand and placing them on waste yarn while finishing the hand body, then returning to pick up stitches to close gaps and work the thumb.

Inspired by the texture and whimsy of the loop stitch pattern. Named after the Lake Michigan stones that have enthralled me since childhood.

Knit from 1 skein of June Cashmere DK yarn.
