Notes from the Designer:
Peconic is a traditional triangle shawl that’s worked from the center wingspan outward by increasing four stitches on every right-side row. The right-side-only patterning keeps the project moving along quickly. The Luster Sport yarn colors used in this design are reminiscent of the sea and sand of Long Island’s east end for which this shawl is named.
- Click here to watch a tutorial showing how to work the Garter Tab CO and read the chart.
- The sample shown used approximately 835 yds/764 m total: Color A: 160 yds/146 m, Color B: 170 yds/155 m, Color C: 170 yds/155 m, Color D: 170 yds/155 m, and Color E: 165 yds/151 m.
- The Peconic shawl could easily be translated into a single color or ombre fade design. To work it as shown in the Scintillating Hues colorway, change colors on Rows 71, 111, 141, and 159.
- The first three and last three stitches of every row are worked in Garter Stitch throughout the design. These stitches are not represented in the chart.
- Chart represents one half of the shawl.
- Each RS row is set up as follows: k3, sm, work charted row; rep from once more, sm, k3.
- Every RS row increases the stitch count by four stitches.
