Even being a designer, sometimes I want a fast and easy project and for that I often turn to hats. I have long planned to return to the motif I created for The Peephole Stole and now seems to be the time!

This pattern features the Peephole motif in a different arrangement that brings them closer to being interlocked. The simple combination of slipped stitches, double yarn overs, and decreases comes together to create something that looks much more complicated than the actual execution.

Yowza minis were the perfect choice for this, the DK weight speeding up the knitting time and the smaller size of the skeins making it so you won’t have so much left over. That said, you can probably get two hats out of a pair of skeins. You will definitely have leftovers!

So choose two contrasting solid or semi-solid colors and have fun knitting! If you want to push boundaries and choose a variegated for one of the colors, make sure that the color of your contrast yarn is not present in the variegation. If it is, you will loose the colorwork wherever the two colors coincide.

The 150 yards called for in the listing is for the Large, divided between the two colors. You will use slightly more of the color you choose for the brim. The smaller hat will take less yarn.

Final Hat Sizes:
15 (17)“ / 38 (43) cm circumference un-stretched brim
8.5 (9.5)” / 21.5 (24) cm height

Stitches used: k, p, k2tog, ssk, YO, slipped sts

You can work the pattern entirely from written instructions or with supplemental chart.
