A slouched hat using stranded colorowk techniques, peerie & Vine is constructed in the round from the bottom up. The overall design combines a series of small peerie motifs in varying colors with seemingly more complicated organic motif panels. The larger motifs are asymmetrical to reflect the patterning of the branch inspiration, but don’t let that intimidate you. The motifs are worked as with any stranded colorwork - using a chart and with only 2 colors per round.

Pattern calls for 5 shades of fingering weight handspun yarn (2-ply, 100% BFL, worsted spun at 158 yards to 1 oz) in 5 colors as follows:
Shade A - black, 115 yards/105 meters
Shade B - burgundy, 60 yards/55 meters
Shade C - scarlet, 60 yards/55 meters
Shade D - French blue, 85 yards/78 meters
Shade E - yellow, 30 yards/28 meters
