The Pehmis bag was inspired by crocheted curtains, and it got its name from ice cream melting in the summer sun. The wavy patterns of the front and back piece overlap, making the lace-like fabric non-see-through.

MATERIALS
Yarn: Molla Cotton Twine 12-ply by Suomen Lanka (100% cotton, 1340 yds / 1280 m – 500 g), 1 cone in the colourway 70 Minttu.

Or approx. 845 yds / 800 m of DK-weight cotton yarn.

Alternative yarn suggestions are for example Catania by Schachenmayr, Catona by Scheepjes and Capri by Katia.

Hook: US B-1 / 2 mm.

GAUGE
25 sts x 17 rows to 4” / 10 cm in pattern, after blocking.

NOTES
The front and back piece of the bag are worked flat. The two pieces are placed together with right sides facing each other, and the edges are joined using slip stitches. The handles are worked separately and sewn to the wrong side of top edge with a few stitches.
