Penny
Penny is a seamless vest that is knit in one piece lengthwise. The pattern is written for 5 different yarn weights: fingering, sport, dk/light worsted, worsted/aran, and bulky, so you can use whatever yarn you like (yardage required for each yarn weight is listed below). Simple, quick and versatile, Penny is a relaxing knit that will make a perfect layering piece.
PATTERN INFORMATION:
Sizes: S (M, L, XL)
To Fit Bust Size: 30-36 (38-44, 46-52, 54-60)”/76-91 (97-112, 117-132, 137-152) cm
Tips on Picking Your Size:
Each of the 4 sizes provided in this pattern will fit a wide range of body sizes. Shown in size S. Refer to the “To Fit Bust Size” to choose your size. I also provide additional sizing tips (and how to make alterations) on my Penny tips page.
Gauge & Needle Sizes, by yarn weight:
Note: Pattern gauge for each yarn-weight is listed below, along with estimated needle size. However, depending on your chosen yarn, you may need to adjust needle size in order to obtain the correct gauge for that particular yarn-weight category. Also, row gauge is not listed because it is not critical in this pattern.
- Fingering: 24 sts = 4”/10 cm in St st on US 4/3.5 mm 32”/80 cm circ (or size needed to obtain this gauge).
- Sport: 21 sts = 4”/10 cm in St st on US 6/4 mm 32”/80 cm circ (or size needed to obtain this gauge).
- DK/Light-Worsted: 18 sts = 4”/10 cm in St st on US 7/4.5 mm 32”/80 cm circ (or size needed to obtain this gauge).
- Worsted/Aran: 16 sts = 4”/10 cm in St st on US 9/5.5 mm 32”/80 cm circ (or size needed to obtain this gauge),
- Bulky: 13 sts = 4”/10 cm in St st on US 10.5/6.5 mm 32”/80 cm circ (or size needed to obtain this gauge)
Yardage Requirements, by yarn weight:
- Fingering: 800 (1000, 1200, 1400) yds
- Sport: 700 (850, 1000, 1200) yds
- DK/Light-Worsted: 600 (750, 900, 1050) yds
- Worsted/Aran: 550 (650, 775, 925) yds
- Bulky: 450 (550, 650, 750) yds
