Penny Dreadful is a classic ribbed pattern with just a touch a stitch movement to add interest for both the wearer and knitter. Knit in a DK weight yarn it could also be a great stash buster. Double strand a Fingering weight yarn and voila another DK.

Penny Dreadful is also a workhorse of a hat pattern. It comes in 5 sizes from small child to large adult and is easily adaptable for more sizes. It can be made without the extra fullness in the body and can be easily made longer or shorter. There is a detailed section that describes possible changes to make this pattern work harder.

Materials: 3.25mm US #3 16 in circs, 4.0mm US #6, 16 in circs and dpns, approx. 100 to 200 yds of dk weight yarn (sample was knit with Cascade Yarns Eco Merino DK), cable hook, markers and the regular notions.
