This pattern will give you the skills to dive into your yarn stash, grab a set of needles and knit a top down yoke sweater to fit any recipient.
Working with your own needle choice and gauge you’ll learn how to:
- Take measurements from a body (or use a set of standard measurements)
- Apply appropriate ease to make it fit as desired
- Caculate a cast on Shape the neck
- Calculate how many stitches you need for chest and sleeves

You can use any yarn suitable for sweater knitting. The yarns used for the samples are listed in the suggested yarns.
Blue marl sample is in Berrocco Coco superbulky in Coast and used 6 balls. The grey sample is in Jamieson’s Shetland Heather aran in Sholmit.
Sizes
The intention is that you work a custom size based on your own measurements. Links to standard size information is provided in the document for those gift or charity knitting.
Samples are shown in XXXX (blue marl) and Jamieson and Jamieson Heather aran weight yarn (grey). Grey sample is made with approx 20% ease on a 32 in bust at 17sts to 4in/10cm using a very stretchy cast on for the neck and allocating a few extra sts to the front at the separation of sleeves to make a slightly wider front neck.
