Persimmon Sweater
This sweater was designed with a fitted look in mind. Along with the ¾ length sleeves for a more casual look, it’s not too bulky to be worn in warmer weather, but surely gives enough warmth in colder days as well!
Textured with the post crochet stitch, which looks like persimmon flowers from afar!
Materials
- Caron Simply Soft Yarn (Solid: 6 oz/ 170.1g, 315yds/ 288m; Tweeds: 5oz/ 141g, 250yds/ 228m) or similar worsted weight (4) yarn in color of your choice
Mine was made using Caron Simply Soft Solid (Persimmon)
- H/ 5.00mm crochet hook and J/ 6.00mm crochet hook (or hook size needed to obtain gauge)
- Embroidery needles (preferably stainless steel)
- Stitch Markers
Gauge
Ribbing: 2x4in/ 5x10cm: 10SC x 20rows of ribbing with H hook
Main pattern: 4x4in/ 10x10cm: 4 V-stitch x 8rows, with J hook
Please take some of your time aside to do a gauge patch in both Ribbing and Main Pattern to avoid sizing problem in the future! Everyone is different and you might need different size hooks to get the correct gauge!

Useful Notes
- This pattern is worked from bottom up, starting from the ribbing. We’ll make front and back panel as one, then separate them to construct the armholes. The collar is worked directly into the body so no seam needed. The sleeves are worked separately and sewn together to the body in the end. Pattern is written for smallest size, with larger size following in parentheses: S (M, L, XL, XXL). (It is best to highlight your respective size in the pattern before you start working).
- The numbers in brackets in the end of each row is the stitch count (S, M, L, XL, XXL), you can highlight your respective size as well to avoid confusion.
- The one shown in pictures are M size (if you want to make it with more ease, please choose the size that suitable to your measurements).
- My design has ¾ length sleeves, should you rather have longer or shorter sleeves, you can add or omit some rows on the sleeves.
- Ch 2 (turning chain) in the beginning of each row is not counted as stitch.
- When leaving a tail for sewing, my rule of thumb is usually to leave at least 1.5x of the length of your sewn length. Special Stitches FPDC: Yarn over, insert hook from front and around the post of the specified stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. You’ll have 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through first 2 loops, repeat once more. BPDC: Yarn over, insert hook from the back and around the post of the specified stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. You’ll have 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through first 2 loops, repeat once more. V-Stitch: Made by working DC, ch-1, and then DC in the same st so it would looks like V.
