the stalk that joins a leaf to a stem.
Petiole is a leaf inspired decorator piece featuring a geometric stitch pattern and a thick plait petiole section inspiring the name
You will need to know how to work the following standard stitches, you may like to google tutorials if you are not sure on any one in particular:

pm: Place marker
dc: Double crochet
sc: Single crochet
bpsc: Work the sc around the back post of the dc below
ch: Chain
skp: Skip stitch
sl st: Slip stitch
ch-sp: Chain space
V st: dc1, ch2, dc1 in the same stitch
Materials needed:
Petiole was designed using a 4ply yarn. Meterage used was approximately 500m (bonus coasters used the remaining balance of the mclana)
I used Garnmanufaktur mclana and Lola in my samples
The design is 54cm leaf tip to tip and 34cm wide
Stitch markers
Wool/darning needle
Parrot/claw clip for the petiole attachment (optional, you can sew it on it you prefer)

Recommended Hook size:
3.5 mm for 4ply
Or hook appropriate for your chosen yarn weight
