After designing the Pettson Vest in early 2025, I knew I wanted a matching cardigan with the same look and details. Now it’s here! A classic v-neck cardigan with a modern construction, worked seamlessly from the top down in a rustic wool yarn that will stand the test of time. The shell version included in the pattern is a simple variation with short sleeve caps – choose one, or knit both!

The body and button band are worked back and forth on a long circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round using either a short circular needle, DPNs, or a long circular needle for the magic loop technique.

Notions
Stitch markers (regular and closing), stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle, 3 or 4 buttons, 20-25 mm wide. Both samples pictured have 3 buttons, 22 mm wide.

Gauge
16 sts x 22 rows to 10 cm / 4” on 5.5 mm / US 9 needles in stockinette after blocking.
