My Phases of the Moon Pillow is one of my book cover inspired pillows. It is inspired by the cover of Sarah Addison Allen’s book, The Girl Who Chased the Moon. The front is composed of nine squares, and tapestry crochet is used to crochet the different phases of the moon. There are pictures included in the pattern to explain how to complete the color changes! They are joined with a single crochet stitch. The back of the pillow is a large yellow granny square. The pillow is joined along three sides, and the bottom is held together by five buttons. This allows the pillow case to be taken on and off of the insert. I used Cascade Ultra Pima yarn, but any DK weight yarn will work. You will need one skein for each color on the front side, and one skein for the back side. Additionally, you will need a 14 by 14 inch pillow insert, and five buttons.
