If you’re looking for a Halloween crochet pattern that wouldn’t look out of place on your bookshelf all year round, you’ve found it! Phillipe the Gargoyle is a superbly spooky pattern with mix-and-match options inspired by the Edward’s Imaginarium flipbook by Kerry Lord. With crocheted joints and a whole range of facial features to choose from, this crochet character is perfect for adding modelling wire to pose just like the classic carved creatures you might have seen on ancient buildings.
Designed as water spouts to throw rain water away from the outside wall of a building, gargoyles usually combine the features of more than one animal to create a fantastical creature. Often seen on the walls of churches, they also inspire fear and suggest that evil dwells on the outside of the building rather than inside it. The word ‘gargoyle’ is derived from the French term ‘gargouille’, meaning throat.
TOFT’s Edward’s Imaginarium collection is a series of mix-and-match crochet amigurumi toys designed by Kerry Lord. This crochet creature kit contains TOFT’s quality pure wool yarn and an easy-to-follow downloadable pattern. There are video links for all the crochet stitches and techniques used in the pattern to get you started and help you complete your toy. Share your progress with the TOFT community on Instagram @toft_uk using the #edsflipbook hashtag.
You will receive three gargoyle patterns with this kit so that you can mix-and-match the head, arms and legs to make one custom gargoyle from the yarn provided in this kit. The crochet pattern is provided digitally in .pdf format. You can download this from a link that will appear at the bottom of your order confirmation email and in your MY TOFT library. You can log in and re-download the pattern at your convenience.
