Sizes (2, 3, 4) (5, 6, 7) (8, 10, 12) years, with finished chest circumference (20.5, 21, 22) (23, 24.5, 26) (27, 28.5, 30)” / (52, 53.5, 56) (58.5, 62, 66) (68.5, 72.5, 76) cm.

This garment should have anywhere from 1” / 2.5 cm negative ease to 1” / 2.5 cm positive ease.

Size up if you’d like to use this pattern as a woolen vest instead of a summer tank.

Gauge

28 sts x 32 rows = 4”/10 cm in cable and stockinette stitch, knit flat and in the round with Needle A.

Yarn Selection

Choose a fingering weight summer yarn, with at least 2 plies. A single-ply yarn will not show the cables well. Sample is shown in Knitting For Olive Cotton Merino (70% cotton, 30% RWS certified Merino / Fingering Weight/ 273 yards / 250 meters / 50g / 1.75 oz) in Red Currant.

Yardage

(1, 2, 2) (2, 2, 2) (2, 2, 2) balls of Knitting For Olive Cotton Merino.

in Sizes 2Y and 12Y, the yardage comes very close to the complete ball yardage. Consider purchasing an extra ball.

OR (280, 310, 340) (360, 410, 440) (460, 500, 550) yards / (250, 280, 310) (330, 370, 400) (420, 460, 500) meters of fingering weight yarn.

To lengthen or shorten, modify yardage by 40 (45, 50, 55) (60, 65, 70) (75, 80, 85) yards / meters for every 1” / 2.5 cm added/removed.

Needles

A: US3 / 3.25 mm circulars in the following lengths: 16-24” / 40-60 cm.

B: US1.5 / 2.5 mm circulars in the following lengths: 16” / 40 cm, 24” / 60 cm, & DPN’s.
