Get ready for March 14—pi day! The stripe pattern in these socks is based on pi and inspired by my math geek husband. The non-repeating sequence of pi makes it easy to customize length for boot socks, knee socks, or longer! These socks can be knit in a sport weight yarn at a very tight gauge for thick and warm boot socks or in a luxurious fingering weight yarn for a sock of pure indulgence.
Foot circumference in size medium (8”) and large (9”), length is customizable
Boot socks shown in Black Sheep Creamery Chehalis 275 yd / 100 g, 2 skeins (1 skein each of purple and natural white)
Knee socks shown in YOTH Yarns Little Brother 435 yd / 100 g, 2 skeins (1 skein each of saba and oyster)
Worked in the round from cuff down with written instructions
Gauge note: These socks are knitted at the same gauge for either yarn choice. The Black Sheep Creamery Chehalis yarn is knit at a very tight gauge for comfortable and thick boot sock. The YOTH Yarns Little Brother yarn is knit at a firm gauge for a luxurious and wearable sock.
This is the first pattern in the “math” series.
