I recently came across some pictures of beautiful mosaic columns found in the excavation of the ancient Sumerian city of Uruk. Despite having been semi-obsessed with Uruk for years I’d never seen these columns and I was immediately inspired to create a sweater design that paid tribute to them. The body of the Pillars of Uruk sweater has been designed to look like the column with the triangular mosaic pattern, right down to the way that the mosaic pattern has broken off at the top of the 5000 year old pillar.
