pineroot
pineroot is a quick, chunky, one-skein knit wall hanging that incorporates a simple lace motif, eyelets, dropped stitches, and garter stitch. Finished with irregular fringe and a tree branch for hanging, it adds a natural touch to any space.
This pattern is forever free - my gift to the community that has given me so much. It is a good project for an ambitious beginner (K2tog, SSK, and yo are the only “special” stitches) and it takes just a few hours to complete.
Gauge
My gauge (unblocked) was about 2 st/in. (Gauge is not important, but using a different weight yarn will result in a different size FO and may require more or less yardage.)
Size
The finished project before fringe was 13” wide by 11-1/2” high. Fringe adds an additional 14”, but you can modify this to suit your taste.
Materials needed
1 sk Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick (sample in Oatmeal)
Needles US sz 17
Matching sewing thread and needle
Scissors for cutting fringe
Tapestry needle
Large crochet hook
½” diameter dowel, tree branch, or other hanging rod 18-24”
A raveler just brought to my attention that there is an error in the gull lace pattern. The last instruction for that motif was mislabeled as Row 4 when it should be Row 3. I have corrected the error and published an update. Please make sure your copy is v3
