Pinwheel Dishcloth
OVERVIEW
The cloth is made with 14 for bulky25for standard and mid-gauge stitches. Begin and end with a few rows of waste yarn in a contrasting color. The entire cloth consists of 9 8wedges, all alike plus 1 additional row of stockinette across all 1425 needles. Each wedge is exactly alike. The wedge is created by short rowing. Sometimes short rowing involves wrapping of adjacent needles. In this design it does not.
YARN, GAUGE & MACHINE
For bulky version use worsted weight #4cotton such as Sugar & Cream, Peaches & Cream or Lion Kitchen for bulky machines, Cottontale 8 for mid-gauge and standard machines. Numbers that pertain to standard machines are in brackets. variegated yarn makes very pretty cloths. One skein is enough for a cloth. The exact stitch and row gauge is not critical. What we want is a slightly loose fabric. This is desirable because the cotton yarn will loft and shrink when washed and we still want the cloth to be flexible when this happens. While some mid-gauge machines can knit worsted weight cotton, they usually cannot do it loosely so it’s best to use the Cottontale 8. On my Studio 150 stitch size 8 produced the perfect fabric. Cottontale will knit at stitch size on a standard stitch dial and middle range on the mid-gauge. Blue cloth is Cottontale 8, multi is Sugar & Cream.
