The design for Pippa the Pig grew from a simple variation on Judy’s Magic Cast-On that I use when knitting top-down caps for the newborns at my local hospital. I shared it with Judy, we decided it looked like a pig’s tail, and a challenge was issued: design a pattern for a stuffed pig, worked from the tush end up. What a humble beginning for a glorious creature!

About the book…

Ever wonder if Judy’s Magic Cast-On could be used outside of socks? Judy Becker shows five ways to use JMCO. Twenty-three patterns from twenty-one designers showcase each clearly illustrated technique. Adventurous knitters will find fun projects and a treasure map to explore.
