Pisa
Pisa takes advantage of crochet’s tendency to slant when worked in the round. Parallelograms – resembling the famous leaning tower in Italy – begin to appear as this slouchy hat is crocheted in a self-striping yarn combined with a lighter/darker solid-color yarn.
NOTE: The Pisa parallelogram pattern shows up best when the self-striping yarn has long color changes AND the solid color is either lighter or darker in color than every color in the self-striping yarn. Self-patterning yarns with shorter color changes also clearly show the parallelogram pattern if its colors have the same relative values.
It’s worked from the top down in joined rounds.
The pattern offers four men’s and women’s sizes: Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large with head circumferences of 21, 22, 23, 24 in./53, 56, 58, 61 cm. NOTE: The top part of the hat is one size, and the fit is customized in the band, which is designed to be smaller than actual head circumference with approx. 2 in./5 cm of negative ease.

The Pisa slouchy uses worsted weight yarn. Gauge is 12 dc = 4 in./10 cm.
