Pisama is a simple, fun and quick hat design. The contrast-coloured stripes are perfect for using up all those small balls and scraps of yarn you have in your stash.
SIZES
1 (2, 3)
To fit a head circumference of approx. 18.75 (21, 22.75)“ / 47 (52.5, 57) cm.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Circumference: 13.75 (16, 17.75)“ / 34.5 (40, 44.5) cm.
Height (with folded brim): Approx. 9.25” / 23.5 cm.
(Note! Because the hat stretches, its circumference should be significantly smaller than your heads.)
MATERIALS
Yarn: Reborn Wool Recycled by Kremke Soul Wool (65% wool, 25% acryl, 10% nylon, 219 yds / 200 m – 100 g).
MC: 1 skein of colourway Dark Green Melange (12).
CC: Approx. 6.5 (7, 9) yds / 6 (6.5, 8) m of colourway Pastel Pink (03).
If you decide to use another yarn, you will need approx. 219 yds / 200 m of aran-weight yarn in MC and approx. 6.5 (7, 9) yds / 6 (6.5, 8) m of aran-weight yarn in CC (in total in one or more colours).
Needles: US 7 / 4.5 mm 16” / 40 cm circular needles. Or DPNs if preferred for small circumference knitting. Notions: Stitch marker.
GAUGE
18 sts x 29 rnds to 4” / 10 cm in stitch pattern, after blocking.
CONSTRUCTION
This hat is knitted seamlessly from the brim to crown.
MODIFICATIONS
You can alter the hat height by working more or less repeats.
You can work the vertical stripes using as many colours as you want, making this a perfect project for scrap yarns.
