This is a pattern for a lacy shoulder cowl. The finished cowl measures 11 inches X 56 inches. The lace cowl can be worn as a spring garment, draping over your shoulders in a way that won’t fall off. Or it can be made to be warmer, by wrapping it around your neck and shoulders. However, you may have a favorite way to wear cowls that’s different from mine. The lace stitch is a very open one, so it is suitable for at least three )seasons, in addition to being very feminine.

The knit stitch is a unique one. It comes to us from the Native Americans, who used in in various crafts, hence I named it for the tribe that existed in the Mid-Atlantic, and is also well known in New Jersey.

The lace stitches are ONLY written out line by line. The cowl was knit with sport weight yarn and requires approximately 900 yards of yarn.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a good working knowledge of both knitting, purling, and slipping stitches)

There are instructions for a crocheted edging, should you want it edged. This is the ONLY crochet within the pattern.
